Game News Xbox Game Pass: a new “Family” offer tested by Microsoft that could change everything
Microsoft is not done with its Game Pass. Far from it even since the manufacturer is currently testing a new formula in the catalog, simply allowing the offer to be shared with other people!
We know it : the Xbox Game Pass is now Microsoft’s main weapon and the center of much of its attention. The Redmond company does not hesitate to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to offer a platform with hundreds of games, sometimes ultra-recent hits, and whether on Xbox, PC or completely dematerialized thanks to the Cloud: the offer is already very aggressive and very threatening for the competitors, and the future announces a muscular tussle.
But Microsoft still has some under the hood and is currently doing tests on a new formulawhich could well be even more daunting: this allows you to share your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription with other people.
A bit like what we find on SVOD platforms like Netflix or Disney+, the principle is therefore to add people so that they too can enjoy all the advantages of Game Pass Ultimate. A considerable asset that could significantly increase (explode?) the attendance figures.
Ireland and Colombia above all
Nevertheless, it will be necessary to be patient before seeing the thing happen to us, and even more in a definitive way. For now, This all-new exciting opportunity is only available to members of the Irish and Colombian Xbox Insiders Program ; likewise, people invited to take advantage of Game Pass Ultimate must live in Ireland and Colombia.
Currently, up to four people can be invited to join this “family” formula (no official name is given for the moment), the price of which also differs from that of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Microsoft is not very clear but, since its official ticket, specifies that if one opts for this new formula while one has a subscription to that Ultimate, the latter will be converted automatically.
Thus, one month of Xbox Game Ultimate subscription corresponds to eighteen days of this new “family” Xbox Game Pass, or about 25 euros per month and therefore five euros per person.
This can obviously be a small revolution in the world of video games and frankly against the current, the trend of account sharing having gradually disappeared in the home console sector over the generations. If she proves popularthis very community version of the Xbox Game Pass could well make it extremely popular with a considerable takeover. We are waiting to be able to test the beast in France, perhaps one day soon.
