It was electric: Kyrgios, master of the show and executioner of Tsitsipas
YESTERDAY AT 8:24 PM
He was tired of people talking about his potential, Nick Kyrgios now wants to prove that he can apply his talent on the court. Faced with Brandon Nakashima, a 20-year-old American who is very consistent on the pitch, the Australian had to fight. Pushed to his limits, in particular because of a pain in the shoulder which bothered him, Kyrgios finally won thanks to a solid mind.
A duel of servers
From the first round, we could see what the match was going to look like: a duel of servers. While Nick Kyrgios won all of his face-offs with exceptional service, he seemed less concerned about Nakashima’s commitments. At the end of the set, when none of the players had made the break, Kyrgios swung his last game of service because of shoulder pain that appeared just before (6-4).
Knowing the explosive character of the Australian, one could have imagined that he was going to swing the match. But he finally held on. Similar to the first round, the second this time was won by Kyrgios, author of a break at the start of the set (6-4).
During the third set, there was no break this time, Kyrgios’ shoulder only allowing him to serve, but not to send big forehands. Handled several times by the physiotherapist, he did not flinch. The round ended with an exceptional tie-break from “NK” which left only crumbs for Nakashima (7-6(2)).

Second quarter at Wimbledon for “NK”
Kyrgios suffered a further blow in the 4th act, which he left to Nakashima. The American did not confirm in the deciding set. More concerned, more regular, still excellent on his serve (35 aces), Kyrgios put himself in machine mode on the Center Court. The Australian finally completed the match quite easily (6-2) to return to the quarter-finals at Wimbly, eight years after the first, in the 2014 edition.
It was not necessarily a reference match on a technical level for the native of Canberra. But, mentally, he proved he was on a mission in this Wimbledon. Be careful, this man is dangerous.
