Elected Miss France 2022, Diane Leyre follows the long tradition of Miss France and participates in “Fort Boyard” this Saturday, July 23, 2022. The young woman, always positive, is very close to her family. But she also cultivates a real independence, and this from a very young age.

Diane Leyre’s life changed in December 2021, when she was elected Miss France 2022. For more than six months, she has fulfilled her role as national ambassador at various events in France and abroad. A challenge that was launched by the one who described herself as “not the most flirtatious of (her) girlfriends” at the microphone of Jean-Pierre Foucault. But Diane Leyre has always done as she pleases, not hesitating to take risks to live her life as she wished, encouraged by her family.

First job at 15, first apartment at 17

In the columns of Figaro, the beauty queen confided that she had always been eager to grow up to be independent. “When I was 12, I told my dad that I couldn’t wait to be 18 to finally live on my own. At 17, I had already taken a studio in the same building as my parents. I I started working around 15. Markets, babysitting, hostess…” An attitude inherited from her parents who always told her that if she wanted something, she had to work to get it. “They are adorable and I received a lot of love from them but I wanted to prove to them that I could do things alone.”

A year after leaving the family nest, she even left to settle abroad to continue her studies: “I went to IE University in Madrid, the seventh best business school in the world, thanks to a scholarship on merit. After four years, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in business and administration, which allowed me to be trilingual.” Diane Leyre does not hide it: “It was a challenge to go alone at 18 to another country, especially since I did not speak English and Spanish well. It was the best years of my life.” Especially since the young woman was very proud to owe nothing to anyone, as she said in the columns of Gala: “In fact, I did not pay for my studies, because I had a merit scholarship. (…) I have managed on my own, I have been independent of my parents since I was 17, and everything I have done is alone.”

Her father did not want her to make Miss France

His participation in Miss France was not quite in the career plan of Diane Leyre, who nevertheless wanted to renew this new challenge. But her father was not necessarily very inspired by this desire, as he had confided to Gala: “At the beginning I said to myself: ‘If it amuses him…’. I saw for my daughter a another destiny.” He had already dissuaded her a few years earlier, but he had a very good reason for that: he wanted her to finish her studies first.

“He was totally right”, she confirmed to TVMag: “At 18, I would not have been able to do it. Today, I come with a lot more things to tell, a head more heavy and squarer shoulders. I feel ready.” In the columns of Le Parisien, her dad did not hide his pride following the election of his daughter: “I was sure that Diane was going to be crowned Miss France, so that we were not going to sleep and go to bed late”, laughed André Leyre. “When my daughter was elected, I said Thierry Roland’s sentence when France beat Brazil in the 98 World Cup final: now we can die in peace!” At the microphone of RTL, he also confided, moved: “I come from a family where I don’t think there have been people with huge glories so for the whole family, it’s good to mark the History for that.”
