If, in 2006, Saints Row claimed to be a competitor of the Grand Theft Auto saga by putting gang wars on a pedestal, quickly, either from Saints Row: The Third, Volition’s license completely changed its guns. ‘shoulder. The seriousness of the first opus then gave way to a more humorous tone where it is quite simply possible to do anything and everything like having a shark launcher (yes, yes, you read that right) to undermine the forces enemies. Today, with the arrival of the reboot of the saga – soberly titled Saints Row – the franchise continues in this direction in order to greatly differentiate itself from the games of Rockstar Games. Proof, we have the brand new trailer which has just dropped and which offers in just a few minutes a host of ideas, each crazier than the next.

If the completely lunar weapons seem to have disappeared in favor of heavy artillery, the wacky spirit of the series is indeed part of it. We can easily see this by looking at the different cut-scenes revealed by the new trailer. It shows in turn crazy chases, heists that make no sense, or even sequences on a hoverboard or even in a wingsuit, an idea taken from a certain Just Cause 4.

Four gangs, three to eliminate

In this new adventure, Johnny Gat and his acolytes give way to new faces, starting with Neenah, Eli and Kevin who accompany The Boss, your character created from scratch in all its wanderings. Unfortunately, the latter will once again have to prove himself if he wants the Saints, his gang, to have control over the entire territory, Santo Ileso.

The trailer follows The Boss, an aspiring “entrepreneur” set to lead his team members, Neenah, Eli and Kevin, to the top of the world using any means and/or weapon necessary to build a criminal empire worthy of the Saints. However, there is a small problem: three factions have already taken up residence on Santo Ileso, namely the Idols, the Panteros and the Marshall Defense Industries. The Saints will need more than diplomacy to wrest influence from these ruthless teams that dominate the city and make room for their own operation.

As a reminder, Saints Row is expected for August 23 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
