Nothing has finally formalized its Phone (1), its very first smartphone. It is a mid-range “plus” terminal that wants to offer the best for less than 500 euros and has one objective: to shake up the telephony market. For that, it relies on its unusual design and some intriguing features.
Nothing is a brand to be reckoned with in the future. After seducing in 2021 with the Ear (1), it returns with a brand new product. It is a smartphone, soberly named Phone (1). The philosophy remains the same: to offer unbeatable value for money and an original design.
The Phone (1) relies on its design to seduce. It has a transparent glass shell (Gorilla Glass 5) through which we can admire the interior. However, there is no question of “stupidly” showing the components. Each visible element has been carefully considered to give a pleasing result to the eye.
The Nothing Phone (1) relies on its amazing design
To come up with this striking design, Nothing took care to opt for a different shade of white for each room, to create a kind of organized clutter. The product also exists in black, but in our opinion, it has less personality.

This transparent case has more than one trick up its sleeve, since it has several embedded LEDs everywhere on the hull (900 microleds in total). Via a sub-menu in the options, it is possible to customize these lights by opting for different animations for each action… A Led even simulates the battery level during charging.
For the rest, we have aluminum edges that want to give a chic side to the product and a neat facade, the brand having ensured that that the edges of the screens are all equal. We were lucky enough to be able to handle the Phone (1) and here we have a product that would almost be worthy of being a top of the range in terms of finish. In short, a smartphone that relies heavily on its design, but does not want to neglect its technical part either.
The Phone (1) is equipped with a 6.55-inch OLED panel in 1080p with an adaptive refresh rate (60-120Hz). Inside we have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ processor with 8 or 12 GB of RAM. On the photography side, the product has a main sensor of 50 megapixels as well as a wide angle of 50 megapixels as well. Interesting. For its part, the battery is 4500 mAh and no charger will be provided in the box.
Price and availability date
Finally, the smartphone will be equipped Android 12 with the Nothing OS overlay. This is intended to be very close to the Android Stock experience and brings few changes, these are mainly visual. Important data: it does not include any pre-installed involvement apart from the Google software suite. An excellent thing.
The Nothing Phone (1) will be available from next July 21 at a price that seems respectable:
- 8GB RAM/128GB Storage: 469 euros
- 8 RAM/256 Storage: 499 euros
- 12GB RAM/256GB Storage: 549 euros
Of course, we will test very soon this brand new phone to see what it’s really worth.
