- Season and pass: all the info

Season and pass: all the info
During the day yesterday, Blizzard published its third quarter report regarding the development progress of Diablo IV. After discussing the environments and the necromancer, the studio tackles a key element of the game: the season system. Like Diablo 3, the fourth numbered episode of the license should therefore offer four seasons per year. At the beginning of it, the players start the story again with a level 1 character whose different possibilities they want to explore. Speaking of which, Blizzard promises to introduce fun new ways to play while advancing your character:
Each season launched will have a new gameplay feature and storyline that will introduce brand new challenges, mysteries and possibilities as you level up (…) We will be able to introduce new characters or rediscover the oldies while exploring the story and seasonal content.
However, Diablo IV will display a major novelty: the season pass. This is Kegan Clark, director of product for the game who talks about it. It indicates that the Season pass will offer rewards such as experience gains: as they do not affect gameplay, they will be free and available to everyone. Players will also be able to purchase the premium version of this pass, which will grant them premium currency to spend in the store. But Kegan Clark insists:
Premium tier rewards are aesthetically-focused, and offer tremendous value in the form of premium cosmetics and currency. Many of these rewards embody the theme of the season, and allow the heroes and heroines of Sanctuary to show that they participated in this season.
Diablo IV: a shop opposite to that of Diablo Immortal?
On this subject, Blizzard goes into detail in the design of the store by evoking the objects that will be present there, insisting on the fact that it is transparent and optional:
Nothing offered in the store confers a direct or indirect advantage in terms of playability. So while many of these items look like powerful pieces of gear, they have no in-game stats.

In this regard, it is specified that some of the ornamental items will not be exclusive to the shop: “Diablo IV will have hundreds of transmogs unlockable from in-game loot, including dozens of the highest visual quality armor sets“. Statements that want to break away from Diablo Immortal, which caused a big scandal when it was released.
As a reminder, Diablo IV is expected on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series for next year.
