Courbis prend la défense de Tudor… et charge Sampaoli

Rolland Courbis insisted on defending Igor Tudor despite the friction between the Marseille coach and some OM players. The member of Dream Team RMC Sport recalled on Monday that the Croatian had inherited a complicated situation after the hasty departure of Jorge Sampaoli.

A win, a draw and above all three defeats. This is the meager record of OM during their five preparation matches this summer. Freshly appointed after the resignation of Jorge Sampaoli, Igor Tudor faces criticism even before the start of the season and the first day of Ligue 1, next Sunday against Reims at the Stade Vélodrome. The Croatian coach must also manage tensions with several players like Gerson or Jordan Amavi. A delegation led by captain Dimitri Payet even asked to see Pablo Longoria to talk about the heavy atmosphere within the group. During his appearance on Monday evening in After Foot on RMC, Rolland Courbis was however confident for the former defender.

“My point of view is, and will be for several weeks, totally different from what I hear and the concerns that there may be. My way of seeing things is that if there is had no problems after a change of coach (that’s where I would be worried), estimated the member of Dream Team RMC Sport. This is not a usual or traditional change of coach that is fired because that the players, fans and journalists no longer want him. This is a coach who left on his own, and who leaves a group accustomed to certain very specific things.

Courbis defends Tudor but charges Sampaoli

Appointed a few days after the express departure of Jorge Sampaoli, Igor Tudor is a choice of Pablo Longoria. The former defender of Juventus and Vatrenis is not responsible for the current situation of the Marseille club according to coach Courbis.

“Tudor, he was never a messiah or a magician. It’s if Tudor doesn’t have problems that I would be surprised in this context. He has the problem of three or four important players regretting a coach who left , further estimated the one who coached in Marseille between 1997 and 1999. Me, I rather target Jorge Sampaoli who is leaving… I’m not going to say like a thief but he left. Why did he leave? don’t know.”

Courbis fears a “treason” from Sampaoli

Rather than making Igor Tudor the scapegoat of Marseille supporters, the consultant preferred to recall the impact of the departure of Jorge Sampaoli. An Argentinian coach whom Rolland Courbis suspects of having resigned to quickly bounce back at the head of another team.

“We can’t condemn Igor Tudor who is taking a very complicated sequel. As for Jorge Sampaoli, it’s not that as I get older I become more suspicious, but maybe yes. I’m looking forward to it. what’s going to happen in the next few weeks. Because if I see Jorge Sampaoli signing in a fortnight or three weeks for another club… A club that was interested in him because he was free from everything contract with Olympique de Marseille… I see things with a slightly more twisted mind, I think he may have left to go to another club. And I call that a betrayal.”

“Amazed that Tudor has a problem with only four players”

Arrived to compensate for the departure of Jorge Sampaoli, Igor Tudor will necessarily be compared with his predecessor. A comparison that has no place since the Croatian inherited a group while the Argentinian shaped it by hand.

“Speaking of Tudor, each time we will compare him with Sampaoli when for me the comparison is prohibited, chained Rolland Courbis. I already know who I will defend. This Tudor I will defend him.”

And the After Foot coach concluded by summarizing Igor Tudor’s situation at OM with a touch of humor: “Today you have Tudor who is leading a group that is absolutely not We will see the end of the transfer window, when there will be a team that will look like what Tudor wants, and not a team with four players who regret their relationship, further estimated the consultant RMC Sport. […] Let’s wait a little longer. I’m even surprised that he has a problem with only four OM players.”
