Comparative duel: Siemens EQ.700 Integral TQ705R03 vs Delonghi PrimaDonna Soul ECAM610.75.MB

Comparative duel: Siemens EQ.700 Integral TQ705R03 vs Delonghi PrimaDonna Soul ECAM610.75.MB

Is it really necessary to point this out? The build qualities of the EQ.700 and PrimaDonna Soul are impeccable. Even though our two test models accommodated more plastic than metal on their walls, they seemed to be of quality and ready to endure many years of service before showing signs of weakness. The two manufacturers, on the other hand, adopt different materials for their grinder: ceramic for Siemens, steel for Delonghi. Everyone will choose their camp (ceramic resists less well to foreign bodies which could be in the tray, but it does not heat up). For our part, we did not notice any difference between the two.

Delonghi against Siemens!

It’s hard to miss: the PrimaDonna Soul and the EQ.700 Integral have a very large color touch screen. If this interface may seem a little too sophisticated for a simple coffee maker, it is important to keep in mind that these two models are much more than that. Indeed, both offer a very wide catalog of drinks which certainly includes classic espressos and long coffees, but also less common recipes such as Indian kaapi for Siemens or cortado at Delonghi. If only to make one’s initial choice among this plethoric offer, the touch screen is therefore ideal since it clearly specifies the different characteristics of the drinks on offer.

In addition, the EQ.700 Integral and the PrimaDonna Soul offer the ability to configure these different beverages down to the smallest detail: coffee strength, aroma, length of the cup, quantity of milk for milk drinks… The touch screen, again , greatly facilitates this step since the indications are clear and there is no need to go through a combination of keys to achieve your goals. However, Delonghi enjoys a small advantage over Siemens, as it allows the temperature of the coffee to be adjusted at the time of preparation, which is not the case for the German. It is therefore necessary to go for a walk in the options if necessary, which is much less practical. Once the recipe has been found and perfectly configured, you can save its settings, 30 profiles for the EQ.700, five for the PrimaDonna Soul.

Siemens EQ.700 Integral

…and that of the Siemens EQ.700 Integral.

As premium machines, our two competitors have a connection to a smartphone. The features are very similar, but each has its own little something extra. At Delonghi, we have chosen to facilitate the settings: based on the Espresso soul recipe, the user enters various data concerning his coffee (type of bean, level of roasting, etc.) and the application adjusts the machine for an ideal extraction. At Siemens, we prefer integration with Google Home or Amazon Alexa to offer voice commands or, much more interesting, the setting up of scenarios that would, for example, make the coffee flow when we ask the program of the day to our favorite domestic assistant.

The bean container of the EQ.700 is a little smaller than that of the PrimaDonna Soul (350 g against 500 g) and does not have a ground coffee trap, which is quite easily forgiven for this machine. Its tank is on the other hand a little larger, even if the difference between the two is very minimal (2.4 l for the EQ.700, 2.2 l for the PrimaDonna Soul). On both machines, the water tray is placed on the right and is therefore easy to extract when it needs to be filled.

The two opponents are therefore very close and it is very difficult to decide between them, but the Delonghi has a very slight advantage due to the ground coffee hatch and the possibility of adjusting the temperature when setting up the drink.
