news material Cloud gaming: Google Stadia, GeForce Now and Xbox Game Pass now available on Samsung Smart TVs
It’s now official: you can launch your favorite video games directly on your TV, without having to connect a console. In any case, if you are lucky enough to own one of the Samsung Smart TVs of 2022, on which the Samsung Gaming Hub service was deployed on June 30, 2022. This concentrates several cloud gaming applications, to stream content and play next-gen titles… Without a next-gen console or PC.
What can you play on the Samsung Game Hub?
TV makers have their eyes on gaming. At the beginning of this generation, LG forged a privileged partnership with Xboxto ensure its OLED TVs perform as well as possible with Microsoft’s next-gen consoles, the Series X and S. Different manufacturers quickly adopted standards such as HDMI 2.1, VRR and HDR in all its forms, to guarantee players ideal playing conditions.
This month of June is Samsung who decided to take the conquest of the vast (and lucrative) gamer market one step further, by launching the Samsung Gaming Hub. This interface aims to concentrate in a single menu, available in one click from the Korean manufacturer’s Smart TVs, all the apps dedicated to video games. There are shortcuts, among others, for YouTube and Twitch, to follow your favorite streamers from the comfort of your living room.
But you can also access it, and this is the most attractive promise of this Gaming Hub, different applications of cloud game : Nvidia GeForce Now, Google Stadia… And the Xbox Game Pass : as we previously announced, Microsoft’s flagship service is coming to our televisions for the first time, allowing Ultimate subscribers to enjoy a catalog of a hundred streaming titles without an Xbox console. Eventually, Amazon Luna should also be available on Samsung TVs. Whichever application is chosen, no additional peripherals are required other than a gamepadto connect via Bluetooth with your screen.
Which TVs are compatible with the Samsung Game Hub?
For the moment, the Samsung Game Hub and its various services of cloud game are reserved for a lucky few. To date, the manufacturer specifies that the update will be rolled out to all TVs above the BU8000. This includes the following models:
- Samsung Smart Monitor Series (2022)
- Samsung Neo QLED 8K (2022)
- Samsung Neo QLED 4K (2022)
- Samsung QLED (2022)
The update has so far only been launched in South Korea, the United States, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy… And France.
If you are one of the lucky ones, all you have to do is download and install the firmware 1302.5 on your Samsung TV. If you have a compatible device, but the update is not yet displayed, arm yourself with a little more patience: the deployment is gradual, and it is therefore possible that the patch will not appear on your Smart TV only in the next few days.
