La série South Park se moque de la pub de Crypto.com (CRO) avec Matt Damon

South Park series pokes fun at Crypto.com (CRO) ad starring Matt Damon

South Park is having fun with Matt Damon and his partnership with Crypto.com

This February 2, 2022, the first episode of the 25th season of South Park was broadcast in the United States on channels like MTV or Paramount Network. The plot of the episode, titled “Pajama Day”, revolves around the prohibition of the right to wear pajamas in school.

In this 312th episode of the anime seriesCartman, one of the recurring characters, exclaims in front of his class: “What does Matt Damon say in the Bitcoin ad? Fortune favors the brave “. Clyde, one of the class members, responds as his father “said he listened to Matt Damon and lost all his money”. He replies that “everyone did that! But they were brave in doing it! ».

“We just have to be brave. But not too brave otherwise Matt Damon will come and take all our money”later tackles a South Park character.

This sequence overtly refers to an advertisement from Crypto.com (CRO), the cryptocurrency exchange platform. As part of an ambitious marketing campaign, the exchange has been broadcasting a commercial since last October featuring actor Matt Damon.

In this spot produced by David Fincher, the actor encourages investors to be brave and take risks by buying cryptocurrencies. Matt Damon compares crypto investors to the most famous pioneers in history. He concludes with this slogan: Fortune favors the brave “.

Unsurprisingly, the platform hopes that the important notoriety of the actor particularly known for his role in “Alone on Mars” will allow him to inflate his user base.

Unfortunately, the advertisement, deemed overly epic by many Internet users, received a mixed reception. Later in the episode of South Park, a protagonist also asks for the “End of the Matt Damon jokes please, they’re starting to get old”.

South Park does not spare cryptocurrencies

Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the animated series regularly pokes fun at actors, brands, political leaders or trendsetters. It’s not the first time that South Park takes on the cryptocurrency sector.

Last year, an episode imagined a future where Bitcoin (BTC) was the only accepted currency. A cryptocurrency enthusiast exclaimed, taking up a worn-out cliche on digital currencies:

“It’s the future, we’ve all decided that the central bank is rigged, so we trust the Ponzi schemes more”

The ad with Matt Damon is part ofa vast communication campaign aimed at recruiting new users. Recently, Crypto.com offered itself an advertisement during the Super Bowl, one of the most famous sporting events in the world. A few weeks earlier, the long-toothed exchange entered into a $700 million partnership with the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The stadium has also been renamed Crypto.com Arena.
